We all rushed to buy digital cameras when they first came out; I am still using one of the first ones. I love it, but compared to the latest range of digital cameras on the market today, mine is a dinosaur.

This super slim and very intelligent camera has everything a serious photographer should have in a digital camera, including an f/2.0 wide angle lens. The Canon S95 incorporates Canon’s Hybrid IS so even when you are shooting objects close up, you don’t get the blurriness that happened with older cameras.

Instead of having a two-button control for focus, exposure, and step zoom, you can use the control ring for precise manual control, just like a standard SLR camera.
The f/2.0 aperture will turn you into a portrait photographer instantly! A face can be fully sharp and in focus, but because of the shallow depth of the f/2.0 the background can be blurred to draw attention to the face – just like a professional would do it. In low light this aperture can capture more detail than any other comparable camera by using all of the available light.
Canon’s Hybrid IS function corrects all but the most erratic camera shake, so taking pictures from the back of a camel should be a lot easier! You really will want to take this camera everywhere with you!
The RAW mode gives clearer images without jpeg compression; these pictures can then be edited via a computer using image adjustment software. The camera can be set to either RAW or jpeg mode, but you will want to play around with RAW editing, it’s a lot of fun.
The Canon S95 has 26 different shooting modes to choose from too, so you can always be sure to find the perfect setting for your purpose, 18 of these are special scene modes, you’ll want to start experimenting with this camera as soon as it’s out of the box. Just remember to buy a memory card – a 16 gig one, because you will be taking a lot of photos and experimenting with this great camera!
